Being the fourth title, in the Scribblenauts series, Scribblenauts Unlimited sheds some light on Maxwell’s background story and explains why he has to collect Starites. Our hero and his twin sister Lily received a magical notebook from his parents where they could create just about anything by simply writing the name of the object they wished to summon. However, that got Maxwell and Lily spoiled. One day, our hero met a hungry man and used his notebook to feed him with a rotten apple. Infuriated, the man cast a curse on Lily turning her to stone that could only be lifted by helping people and collecting Starites. In the end, it turns out that the old man was actually Maxwell’s father who disguised himself to teach his children a lesson.
Unlike the previous versions, Scribblenauts Unlimited packs more action and adventure. The story unfolds in a vast world that is open for you to explore. You can move between different themed locations and take quests from NPCs. All of them are available in both male and female versions and the arcade and time machines have also gained new features to make the gameplay even more diverse. Aside from solving the main puzzles, you can also take up smaller tasks within the world that will grant you Starite shards – pieces of Starites that can be combined into a whole one. This is yet another way to earn Starites and ultimately free your sister.
While creating an object, you also get to choose between several additional options. While there is an adjective system allowing you to specify just what exactly you want to call up, you can also link multiple objects to create something as weird as a wheeled dog. Besides, you can assign various properties to things you summon, including ability to move or attack. Objects can be customized by changing their color and size and then named and saved to spawn them any time afterwards. The storing capacity of the game supports 900 custom objects, with over 60 objects available for display at the same time.
Scribblenauts Unlimited offers a good mix of a logical challenge and open-world adventure. We finally learn what all the fuss is about and try our best to help Maxwell achieve his ultimate goal. The new features have expanded the player’s summoning arsenal providing for even smarter, trickier solutions for each quest. That opens up immense possibilities making Scribblenauts even more fascinating and fun! Try Scribblenauts Unlimited on our site and check out what’s there for you!
